Reuse Your Sáng Candles

I want to do all I can to reduce the waste produced by Sáng candles. It is well-known just how impossibly enormous the amount of commercial waste produced yearly is; and, while the real battle is to fight against major corporations who are the primary contributors to the crisis, I want to be a better example of caring for the planet and our community. Coming from an immigrant family, I learned the importance of upcycling and sustainability as an eco-friendly and cost-effective solution to waste. I want to keep that tradition alive by helping you all who support Sáng with fun ways to reuse your empty candle jars (we know you’ll be burning them often enough that this is in your future).  

Cleaning out empty jars  

As with any candle that you’ve gone through, there always remains that rim of wax that just refuses to melt away. Of the many methods of heating and freezing the wax to remove it, nothing is more secure than the old “throw some hot water and soap in the jar and let it soak” method. Unlike with freezing wax or melting wax by placing it in a pot of boiling water, hand washing has the least amount of risk to break the jars and ruin a good project before it begins. Some soap, hot water, and elbow grease are the preferred method to having a beautiful and clean jar with endless possibilities!

Upcycling ideas 

First of all, Sáng candles are beautiful. That’s why using the candles as a container for your vanity sets is a wonderful idea! Whether they’re holding make-up brushes by your mirror, paint brushes by your art station, or writing materials on your desk, it’s an easy way to elevate your space at no extra cost. 

For those among you with green thumbs, or those who are about to begin their journey as plant parents, use Sáng candles as a great way to give your plant babies a new home while not breaking quarantine. The candle jars work well with various plants like succulents, cacti, and larger air plants.
